    Amazing food with great quantity. If it was a little spicy would be a 10/10. Also, their lunch combos are such a good deal for the price you pay. Definitely recommended.

    Short review. Chili chicken lunch special reminded me of my lunches, as a student, on Spadina Ave in Toronto many years ago. The portion is generous, lots of chicken, no skimping plus two egg rolls. Spice level was perfect for me. Not mild, not crazy Sichuan hot. Enough heat to be able to taste the tender chicken and crispy vegetables. Everything was humble, the restaurant was clean, Happy Caribbean tunes play in the background, friendly staff. I will be back soon.

    Great good and amazing portions. The chicken and rice were my absolute favourite. My husband loved their jerk chicken. Very low-key and casual place, wear your stretchy pants too.

    I ordered the Singapore noodles with chicken, amazing, fresh food and excellent value for what you pay. Large helpings and attentive wait staff. This is a gem of a restaurant with great music playing that you should try!

    This is a fantastic spot for Caribbean-Chinese fusion food. Our favorites include the Calypso chicken wings, pepper shrimp and fried rice. The staff is very friendly, and the food is delicious with the right amount of spice!

    Durham region has a plethora of Caribbean and Hakka restaurants. I happened to be in Whitby when I came across this Guyanese restaurant. I recognize the owner who used to manage and work at a different Hakka restaurant a few years back. We ordered takeout there are lunch specials at 8.50, which includes 2 small veggie spring rolls. You can add a pop for 1, upgrade to veggie fried rice 2.50, chicken fried rice 2.75, veggie chowmein 3.00, and chicken chowmein 3.25. Option to add 1 chicken leg or 4 chicken wings or 3 chicken balls for 3.25. Extra Bbq sauce, honey garlic sauce, and sweet and sour sauce 1.25. The owner told me she's been open for 8 months now. I love supporting local businesses, especially when they work hard to provide quality food at very reasonable prices. I ordered the chili chicken on steamed rice and sweet and sour chicken. The chili chicken is deep fried and then stir-fried in their chili sauce and onions. The heat level was tolerable, and the seasoning was just right. The sweet and sour chicken also had deep fried boneless chicken thigh meat and covered in the ultra red sweet and sour sauce. I was so hungry and wasn't able to take pictures of the food. Portion wise, I would say it's fair for the price you pay. However, I would have liked just a little more chicken in each lunch special. The restaurant is fully licensed and serves beer and alcohol. The dining area has a nice warm caribbean decor. I will try to come next time and dine in because the food is more enjoyable when consumed right away. Overall, I recommend this place if you're looking for some caribbean, Hakka, and Guyanese flavors. Will try other items on the menu like the Lo-mein, Special chicken (fried chicken on top) chowmein, Pepper shrimp chowmein.

    Moved to Durham from Scarborough a couple years ago and have been searching hi and low for chilli chicken that hits that special spot. I’ve passed this restaurant often, but due to the reviews specifically about the chilli chicken, I’ve passed on it. I’m so happy I finally decided to give calypso queen a try. The quality of meat as well as flavours were fantastic. The portions are surprisingly generous for the price. I ordered ahead for pick up, food was ready on time for pick up and very hot, great start! Restaurant appears very clean. One bite and wow...I have finally found my classic Scarborough comparable chili chicken. Looking forward to returning and trying more items. I suggest anyone searching for that classic chilli chicken fix to give this restaurant a try. Thankyou calypso queen!!

    Amazing food! We tried the general top chicken, chicken and vegetables, chicken, fried rice, Singapore noodles with shrimp and a side order of wings. Almost forgot the wontons with cheese, you gotta have them! Everything came with a side of white rice. The food was excellent, my toddler couldn’t get enough of the chicken fried rice! We will definitely go back to try more dishes.
